NotchRail macOS

Your menu bar stays on your Mac.

Last updated September 25, 2026.

Screen Recording

With the scrolling row enabled, NotchRail captures images of your hidden menu bar icons, and of the menu you open from the row, so it can show them beside the notch. Images are processed in memory, replaced within seconds and never written to disk or sent anywhere.

Accessibility

NotchRail reads the position of menu bar items and asks apps to open the menu you selected. It does not read windows, documents or keystrokes, and it does not observe the keyboard.

Licensing, and nothing else online

The app contains no analytics or tracking. The current early-access version makes no network connections at all. Licensed versions contact notchrail.pages.dev only to activate, re-check (about once a week) or deactivate your license. They send your license key, a random installation ID created by the app and, when re-checking, the activation’s ID. The service verifies them with Lemon Squeezy and returns a signed confirmation. Screen contents, menu bar contents and your Mac’s hardware identifiers are never sent. The service does not store license keys or IP addresses.

License and trial state is kept in a private file in your user account (~/Library/Application Support/NotchRail). Your settings stay in your macOS user account.

Control

You can revoke either permission in System Settings at any time. NotchRail then falls back to basic hide-and-expand. Removing the app removes its behavior entirely.
